Since 1947
Masonry work in Hamilton Township is overwhelmingly concentrated in the 1920s to 1960s brick residential stock across Hamilton Square, Nottingham, Broad Street Park, and Yardville. Those homes were laid in a soft, lime-rich Type O mortar that is what keeps their brick faces intact after 80 to 100 years of New Jersey freeze-thaw. The mistake most contractors make in Hamilton is repointing with a harder Portland-heavy mortar, which accelerates brick spalling within a decade. A. Pennacchi and Sons has repointed hundreds of Hamilton homes since 1947 using the original-spec mortar type every time.
What Masonry Services Do You Offer In Hamilton?
We handle the full range of masonry work Hamilton homes and small commercial properties need: structural wall rebuilds, historic repointing, chimney teardowns and rebuilds, foundation stabilization, brick and stone replacement, porch and step restoration, and stucco-over-masonry repair. Most Hamilton jobs are single-discipline repointing or chimney work, but we also handle multi-phase restoration on the larger Victorians around Hamilton Square.
- Brick repointing with color-matched lime mortar (ASTM C270 Type O)
- Chimney rebuilds with flue relining and new crown
- Structural wall and foundation rebuilds
- Historic brick and stone replacement
- Porch column and concrete step restoration
- Stucco patching and full re-stucco over masonry
How Are Hamilton Masonry Projects Priced?
Hamilton pricing is scope-dependent. A small repoint on a Cape is a different project from a full Victorian facade restoration, and access, masonry condition, lift height, and mortar-matching complexity all drive the number. Every project is priced onsite as a fixed-total written proposal. No time-and-materials, no hourly, no hidden costs. Request an estimate to get an accurate number for your Hamilton property.
Why Do Hamilton Brick Homes Need Lime-Based Mortar?
Hamilton’s 1920s to 1960s brick was manufactured soft by modern standards, typically 2000 to 3500 PSI compressive strength. The Type O lime-based mortar those brick were bedded in has a similar strength. That matched elasticity is what lets the assembly flex during freeze-thaw without damaging the brick. When a contractor repoints in a harder modern Type S or N mortar (5000+ PSI), the brick becomes the weakest point and begins to spall on the weather side within 8 to 12 years. We only use Type O or Type K on Hamilton brick unless the original documented mix calls for something different.
